Meet two women who changed the face of cooking in Mexico. Vicenta Torres de Rubio was the first woman to publish a cookbook, and with it uniting women across the country through their regional cuisines, in her Cocina michoacana of 1896; for three decades Josefina Velasquez de Leon had a cooking empire that lasted until the mid-1960s. She published over 140 cookbooks, including the first bilingual cookbook printed in the United States. ($20)
