The New School of Cooking Pasadena
Thrilled about the ArtBites Cookbook Club! Each month we will discuss a significant historic cookbook and prepare a group meal adapted from its recipes. Here’s what’s on the menu this month:
El cocinero español (The Spanish Cook) by Encarnacion Pinedo, 1898
Published in San Francisco, The Spanish Cook is Californias first Spanish-language cookbook. It stands out in a time and place where men dominated the world of letters, and those letters were published in English. Pinedo spoke, read and wrote in at least two languages. Her literacy and education mark her as a member of California’s cultural elite.
Purchase a single class for $115 or together with the 4/14 and 5/12 classes for the Cookbook Club Bundle discounted rate.
Classes meet at The New School of Cooking’s Pasadena campus.
