Each month we discuss a significant cookbook and prepare a group meal adapted from its recipes. Here’s what’s on the Cookbook Club menu this month:

A Book of Mediterranean Food by Elizabeth David, 1950
Long acknowledged as the inspiration for Julia Child and Claudia Roden, Elizabeth David introduced Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes to bleak postwar Great Britain, when basics were rationed and fresh food was a fantasy. ($115)
